Effective listening skills helps you build connections, establish trust and identity and solve problems”

As well as Street Pastor volunteers who need effective listening skills to communicate with their fellow citizens in night-time venues, this training module is for those who want to increase community setting or workplace efficiency with skilled communication.

Learning Outcomes

1. Identify and explore three key elements of communication
2. Identify the differences between listening and hearing
3. Examine and practice how to handle barriers to effective listening
4. Be aware of behaviors that will disrupt and hinder meaningful communication
5. Practice the techniques of active listening: attending and reflecting
6. Explore the benefits of active listening both for the speaker and listener
