"Partnerships between Police and community agencies can help improve public safety”

This training module is to help Street Pastor volunteers and other community workers and agencies to manage effective partnerships with the Police for community benefit. It helps trainees to become aware of the nature of the relationship and partnership between the Police and other agencies and ministries such as the Street Pastors initiative and enables them to examine how both parties can work effectively together. The lesson also looks at some of the communication strategies that the Police use when dealing with members of the public. Additionally, the trainer will draw the students’ attention to the practice of Stop and Search, the definition of hate crime and discuss what to do with articles concerned in crime.

Learning Outcomes

  • 1. Identify challenges to joint working with the Police
  • 1. Understand the nature of the relationship between the Police and street pastors
  • 2. Understand what is hate’ crime
  • 3. Gain an understanding of the Polices use of Stop and Search
  • 4. Become aware of some of the communication skills used by the Police.
