Overview

Hope for Justice is a global charity with a mission to bring an end to modern slavery by preventing exploitation, reaching victims, restoring lives, and reforming society. We are part of the ongoing national and international campaign around modern slavery and labour exploitation and we are currently offering free awareness training to Ascension Trust Street Pastors to support their work in caring for individuals and making our communities safer.

Learning Outcomes

The training will equip participants with knowledge about modern slavery and human trafficking so that by the end of the training they will be able to:
• Explain what modern slavery is and identify the different types that exist
• Describe the signs and indicators of the different types of modern slavery
• Respond appropriately respond if a victim of modern slavery is identified

Target Audience

The training is aimed primarily at Ascension Trust Street Pastors in the following areas although spaces may be available to others depending on numbers:
• NW England - Preston, Lancaster, Blackburn, Blackpool, Wigan
• East Midlands- Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Coventry and Lincoln
• West Yorkshire - Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Keighley

Delivery Methods

• Training will be delivered online over Zoom by Nigel Oseman and Ruth Packwood (Hope for Justice Trainers).
• Delivery will include national and local facts and figures, polls, case studies, videos and breakout rooms to explore the subject in depth
• The training is scheduled to run 14/09/21 and 15/09/21, 1830-2030 and will include a break (you only need to attend one of the dates, please specify when booking a place)
• Minimum 12 and maximum 40 participants per session
• Due to the sensitive nature and content of the training, we apply a trauma informed approach to our training so participants will be able to choose whether to have their camera on during the training
• A member of the HfJ Community Engagement Team will aim to be present during the training to answer any specific queries relating to vulnerable people or those at risk of exploitation
• Participants will be provided with a copy of the HfJ Training Manual and other support materials
• Participants will be asked to complete feedback at the end of the training

Unless otherwise stated the majority of training offered on this site are for Street, School ,Rail Response and Prayer Pastors and should be booked by the coordinator or designated person. Any organisation wishing to book a trainer to deliver any of the training on offer should email us
